George here's something you might be able to use at your site.

Louisiana Pension application for Robert "Bob" (or Ben) Shropshire.
Accompanied his master, Major John S. Shropshire, Company A 5th Texas Cavalry to the war. The Major was killed at Glorieta Pass. Robert remained with the Army until he was seriously wounded. Spent the last year of the war hospitalized.
